The Stag Company has been helping men organize epic stag weekends for over 20 years. Some guys enjoy a few days of watersports and night-time chaos in a European hotspot. Others find it more about getting everyone together for a comedy or music festival and then tying all the other events around it.
Hosting a stag party at home is cheaper and more fun for other groups. Although organizing a stag party in your house sounds easy, you must be as organized as if inviting everyone to a Prague weekend. Our guide will help you manage a successful stag weekend at home.
Why not organize a stag party at home
Some groups want to avoid spending a long weekend drinking heavily on a Benidorm Stag Do trip or in Prague. Organizing activities, hotels, and bar crawls for 12 guys in a new city. A stag party at home is an excellent option for many who want to keep it simple and save money. There are many reasons to do this:
Home-based stag dos can be significantly cheaper than going abroad, depending on your chosen activities. It’s not affordable for everyone, so make sure it’s inclusive
It’s easier to manage when you’re at home. There’s no need to worry about Big Dave losing the strip club or what to do if someone needs a nap.
Different types of stag parties can be organized to suit other groups of friends
Some people are uncomfortable in bars and clubs. This could be because they cannot get the Covid vaccine or have a disability that makes it difficult to go.
This can serve as a warm-up for a future trip and allow a group of guys to get to know one another better.
You don’t have to use the house as your base camp.
Plan
Planning is critical to a successful stag weekend. Make sure you allow enough time for everything and plan well. Make sure you understand how the party will progress, especially if there are people who live far away.
It is a good idea to devise a few ice-breaking activities that only take a few hours each. It’s not as fun as it seems, but if everyone is drinking all day, it can quickly become tedious.
Choose your date
It is essential to pick a date that works for as many people as possible. If you can, aim for something a few months out. Otherwise, it’s unlikely that you will get many guys to show up for the stag party.
It’s essential to avoid clashing with other events, such as Glastonbury, Cup finals, or your wedding. A home-based stag party is an excellent option because no one will worry about flying. More notice is better for those who need to travel by train so that they don’t have to sell their kidneys to pay for the ticket.
Location, location, and location
It doesn’t have to be at your place. Especially if you live alone, it may be a better idea to look into other options. Do any of your friends own a more prominent business they are happy to use? Consider renting a property if that’s not the case. Just make sure you are open to stag parties.
How is the garden situation? A stag party with access to the outside area has so much potential, especially in summer.
A few obvious things should be mentioned, but they are worth noting: Make sure your family members and pets are present for the duration. There have been many stag parties that have left pets and cats traumatized by the events. Give your neighbors notice: If you promise to stop the music at 1 am and give them at least two weeks’ notice, they shouldn’t have any complaints.
Finally, even though men tend to have lower hygiene standards than women, it is worth trying to keep the place clean. Consider hiring a cleaner to clean your home. Or, you could save the money for later. Anything valuable, sentimental or financial, should be stored away for safety.

Be creative in your activities
We had to be creative with our home entertainment during the Covid-19 lockdowns. Whether you were building dens from household items or hosting drinks parties with your bezzies through Zoom, it didn’t matter. All of it was helpful preparation for creating Stag Do games and other challenges around the house.
The kitchen can be transformed into a bar or a place to play poker. A living room can be transformed into an escape room. You can make an obstacle course out of your garden with a grill in the corner. It takes only a little imagination.
Take small bites of everything
A professional stag party planner like ourselves can handle all the details. You can do everything yourself if you prefer the DIY approach. The basics of a home stag do efficiently with this party.
Even if everyone is asked to bring something, ensure you have a variety of drinks for the baseline. Also, include non-alcoholic beverages for those who are teetotallers or need to drive. Clear out the fridge or fill the tub with ice.
Enjoy plenty of easy food like pizzas, sausages, and crisps. You can also grill in your garden.
If you don’t have a café nearby, ensure you have breakfast basics the next day.
Even if it’s not expected to be rowdy, move any valuables out of reach. You don’t want Aunt Janet’s ashes accidentally used for an ashtray.
If men are coming from outside, make sure that there is enough parking. Can you borrow someone’s driveway, or do you need to get parking permits?
Play the playlist or create several for different times of the day/night
People will eventually need to crash. Where are the people sleeping? Do you need to make beds or remind people to bring their sleeping bags?
